First Baseball Weekend of the Season!

I'm sure once we are 6 weeks in and I am sunburned beyond belief and so very tired of the Texas heat, I will not be this excited about baseball.  But it's the first weekend - and we were SO ready!

Play ball!  Murph starting the season at first base.
 First at-bat...fought to full count...walked
Game 2 - fought to full count...
walked again!  Great on-base percentage, but only one hit in the first 2 games.
 wiped out!  It was HOT!
Peyton and Zoe still had energy for jumping!
I was the grill master - turkey burgers for everyone!
The trampoline is always more fun with the sprinkler on!
 Silly trampoline 'swimmers'
Hanging out after dinner, watching a movie
 Say CHEESE!
Stay up too late...sleep in all morning with every stuffie and most of the blankets!

Spring Social

The dress was chosen (after we tried on 47 of them!!!) and the night was finally here.  Spring Social night at PHIS.  Peyton was so excited.  She wasn't going with anyone, because, much to my surprise, most of her friends have "boyfriends".  I am amazed that parents allow this.  They are 12.  I know it's really not anything other than saying they are boyfriend/girlfriend, but I think it's too young.

Luckily, so does Peyton.  She has boys that she thinks are cute, but no one she "likes".  She went through a crush phase, but she is so into her things now - dance and cheer and school - that she just doesn't have time.  YAY!  But she is wonderfully secure and independent and knew she would run into friends there, so she went with me.  (I was volunteering)

She came straight home from school and started on her hair...it was hot, so I would have never even tried to straighten my hair, but she had a vision - she wanted me to do the braid.  And it looked beautiful.
She wanted some pictures outside...I thought I got a couple on the trampoline, but maybe she made me delete them!!!
How gorgeous is my girl?  Love that color on her - and although you can't see them -
those are great silver sandles.

Red dress in the red room.
The volunteers made balloon aliens for decorations - cute!
Peyton wanted to take this one home for her room!
Turn Down For What?!  Biggest dance of the night!
I was on pizza duty.  This is Steve.  This poor little piece of pizza that got most of the toppings pulled off while we were putting slices on napkins for sale.  Steve sat there most of the night.  No one wanted to charge a dollar for Steve and his no-toppingness.  Finally, Steve found a home in the stomach of one of the volunteers.
Peyton and Zoe showing off their winnings from the games....CANDY!!!

Outdoor Baseball Practice Begins

It's finally time for baseball.  I'm definitely more excited about it that Peyton is.  Murph is beside himself.  He was dressed and ready a full hour before it was time to leave.  Bag packed.  Water jug filled.  Bats shined up.  And all his accouterments at the ready - evo shield, evo sleeve, sunglasses, gloves, high socks.  Love that boy!

And since mom is back in rehab - there was no stress about getting him there.  And Peyton was able to come along.  Of course she packed a ton of things to keep her busy.  Her sketch pad, colored pencils, her phone, a jump rope, sidewalk chalk, a mad libs book and her rainbow loom.
I have always been proud of her ability to keep herself entertained.  She's really started to spend a lot of time sketching over this past 2 months or so...she's good.
They started practice running, then went right into infield drills.  There were 4 guys taking balls at 1st.  Murph held his own.  One other kid, Steven, was really good too.  They moved the boys around a lot - I guess to see where they performed most comfortably.
Murph played at 1st, 2nd, 3rd and caught in for a little while.  Most of his time was spent at first...which is his happy place!
Me and my girl - already in team colors...notice the baseball bow in Peyton's hair?  So cute!

Time for a Trampoline...in the Rain!

A friend of mine posted on Facebook that she had a used trampoline for sale...the kids have missed our trampoline since it died last year.  I know there are some risks with a trampoline, but there are rewards too.  The physical activity.  Something to do outside that they both enjoy equally.

So we went and looked at it.  We offered a bit less than she was asking and we packed it up, just as it was starting to rain.

Lots of pieces to put together...
Lots of metal pieces...did I mention that it was raining?  And lightening?
Sophie wasn't much help, but she was more than interested.
Clearly, we have mad trampoline construction abilities!
 Rainy day selfie...or duo...whatever!
She wasn't satisfied to just sniff underneath...a dog's gotta see the top too!
This would make a very nice dog bed, she thinks!
We had 2 very happy kids after school today!
My attempt at getting them to "pose" while jumping...
They were both excited about the trampoline, but Peyton was over the moon!  Weeeeee!
